Featuring: Princess 'LassieSaoirse and Guardsman Lorvell (NPC)
Mentioning: Lord Zeus Trident , Princess Dusk , Lord Thorodin
and Princess Lieza
Autumn , 763 of the New Age
Familial Glade (Glenwood) , Glenmore

A deep deep sigh escaped the pale little princess as she laid on the grass in the middle of her home glade. Her mom and dad had taken her brother and newborn baby sister to the royal meadows and she...well had been grounded. For running off and wrestling with commoner fawns. It hadn't been her mother's idea to punish her like this, nor had it been her father's it was her grand-father who suggested it.
Keeping a fawn away from it's friends and playdates had always been a good way to chastise them for bad behavior.
Lassie didn't mind staying in the glade. The meadows were more than just a little boring and she didn't like all those snotty royal fawns. The only thing that bothered her was that she needed to stay at home all alone. There was nobody. Okay Lorvell was there but he did not play with her. He was a guardsman and had to keep watch over the glade so no time to play. The filly sighed again.
Oh hell this was sooooo boring. She rolled on her back and looked up to the tree crowns. They were all yellow and orange now. Just like last year. Like somebody has caught sunset sky and sprinkled it all over the leaves. The filly giggled. She just imagined how somebody collected sunset sky in a pot and plucked every leaf off the trees to dye them in it and tuck them back on the branches. How much work must it be to do that.
She rolled around in the dry grass. It tickled and she giggled again. Finally after some rolling from one side to the other, and her coat was stained enough, she got up again and took a deep breath. Maybe she could practice marching. Yep that was a good idea. Papa would be so proud if he would see her. She collected her legs and puffed her chest to make sure her acorn necklace was perfectly visible before she started parading along the glade.

One...two...three...one...two...three, she counted mentally trying to focus on her steps to make sure she won't get out of pace.

One day she would be big and strong and she would join the guard. She was sure of it. Nobody would stop her.
She would fight Blackwood raiders and hunt Oakfern fawntakers down and all the does and stags would praise her for being super brave and mighty. The filly giggled again. Wild day dreams enfolded themselves in her tiny head. Before her was a stone. She leaped over it like it was a giant boulder. It has been one. And as she passed a bush she playfully charged at it. She would scare that Blackwood away and drive him back over the mountain tops to where he came from.
For a while she spend time hunting and fighting fake enemies that tried to ambush her but of course she was to smart for them. They always lost and she was praised by everybody even by the king. For being a fearless hero, defender of the weak.

"I'm honored my king.",she said and bowed before a bush,"All I did was my duty but I will of course take the place as Captain of the Guard my liege."

Now she was the new captain of the guard. King Shrub had announced her to be it. She turned around and all her grass blade guardsman bowed before her.
The little princess felt mighty and incredibly proud. She needed to tell her papa that she was the captain now. He would smile at her and nuzzle her mane she knew it. Lassie let herself fall into the grass and started to roll around again. It didn't have been that bad that she had to stay here. It might have been a little bit more fun if Thordin had been there but it was okay like this as well.
Lassie wondered how long it might take until her parents would return. They had been away for quiet a while now. She took a deep breath and wiggled her nose.

"Huh?",the princess made and looked confused.

What was that smell?

A strange smell came to her nose. It tickled and she needed to sneeze loudly. It was a smell she never smelled before and she could not describe it. Not really at least. She got up and looked around in wonder hoping to find out from where it came.
A voice sound through the forest. The filly pricked it's ears. What did it say?

"Fire!"

Fire?
The filly frowned and tried to listen closer. It was so far away that it was hard to hear.

"Fire!"

It said fire right?
Lassie was unsure but she knew that fire was bad. Her father had told her so. Mama had said she need to avoid all things bad because most of them were dangerous. And what had her father said?

"If there should be danger you need to run!"

Lorvell stepped out of the shadows into the glade pricking his ears as well.

"FIRE! FIRE! FIRE IN THE GLENWOOD!"

Fire. She heard right. The filly reared up and darted off. Just like her father told her. Running. Fleeing. Lassie did not spend a thought on where she had to flee. Back to the meadows to where her parents where. The only thing she remembered an kept in mind was thet she had to flee at all.

"PRINCESS!"

She heard the voice of her poor guard calling for her but she did not stop. Small as she was she just disappeared between the golden bushes.

"FIRE! FIRE IN THE GLENWOOD!"

The calls seemed to come from everywhere and were soon accompanied by hysteric screams of does. All was in the distance. It seamed at least. Or maybe she was to focused on fleeing to notice where it came from. Until a certain moment. Until she heard a strange rustling and felt a heat she did not knew. She halted in an instant and almost knocked herself over by doing so. There were small golden and red droplets on the floor. Dangling on grass blades and where they touched them the blades turned black. She had never seen something like this before. Was that fire? It didn't look bad. But the heat felt bad. Really bad.
Lassie reared up and spun around. Darting off once more into an unknown direction. Further away from her home glade and her panicking guardsman would could not find her.
Again came the calls.

"FIRE IN THE GLENWOOD!"

Did somebody called for guards as well? The filly thought she had heard a call but she didn't spend a further thought on it. She just ran. Ran. Continued running until she bumped head forward into something hard.
A branch of a lower shrub. She had hit it fully with her forehead and the hit knocked her over. She fell hard on her back all four limbs in the air. The world turned black. Pitch black. She passed out. Lying between the shrubs. Invisible. While the calls still rang through the forest.

"FIRE! THERE'S FIRE IN THE GLENWOOD!"

Also uploaded a little earlier for same reasons and to give people a few days more time to plot and think something nice up if they want to join.

Autumn , 763 of the New Age
Glenwood , Glenmore

The sun sparkled through the golden tree crowns this morning, giving the wood an air of peace and harmony. Only the sound of clashing antlers far far away reminded both stags and does that the time of the year had come. Rutting season. The golden stag flickered his ears as he heard the familiar noise but didn't give anything on it. He wasn't a young buck anymore. He was almost pass his prime in fact but this was his second rut he would participate in. However he had a harem of loyal ladies and being a respected member of the guard, a lieutenant, he does not need to fear challenges as much as other stags did. He could be almost sure that if he comes home by the end of the day, his does would be there waiting for him.
So he used this fine day to visit one of the fair maids that

Omg there's fire in the glenwood! DRAMA!

What shall we do? We can't let our wonderful home burn down. We need to do something! But what?
The answer is a Mini Mass RP. I am a dummy!

For those who are new to fawnlings and never took part in a Mass RP before he's a little explanation for you. ^^

Mass RP are usually happenings that affect not only one character but several individuals or even the entire herd. Like for example the crowning of a king, trials or other general drama. They are often part of the plot of one (important) character or of the herd as it's whole.
The first and maybe most popular Mass RP that every happened was The Spirit and the Letter which had been done in 759 and had three parts, followed by plenty individual responses to it.

This mini mass rp will work a little different from a normal one though. There will be of course a FEATURE COMMENT comments.deviantart.com/1/5747… you can reply to like it's always the case but there's no restriction on how many words and you will have a full month time to write a reaction on it. So plenty plenty time to warp something super awesome up. La la la la

Now up to the important things concerning this RP in particular.

First and most important nobody will find out how the fire started.
The only one who saw Uriel was his former nursemaid and she died in the flames. Further there's also no need to worry about Lassie's safety. She will be saved and it's part of her plot to get lost in this inferno and presumed to be dead. So no need to save her better run and save yourself instead.

There fire itself will be mainly located in the yellow area shown below.
It might spread a little further towards the oak as the wind blows south-westwards but it won't go far the border of the royal grazing grounds. So no worries about the oak and the meadow. It's possible that fawnlings grazing at the outskirts of the oak meadow might see the flickering light in the distance and it's high likely that they might smell the fire but the royal fire fighters are quick and do their best to shelter the oak and oak glade from the flames. Fawnlings hanging around there are completely safe and don't need to give anything on it if they don't want to.

For those who want give something on it and who are in the marked area at this time here's a small list of what you might do. Other reactions are of course more than welcome as well it's just thought to give you a little idea.
  • manly guardsman
Manly guardsman can leap into action and keep the fire at bay or even try to extinguish the flames by building drenches, rock and earth barriers or snuff out flames with earth.
They can also be heroes and save ladies and fawns and fat lords by guiding them away to safer places where they can't get harmed at all.
For those that a scared of fire themselves the are of course free to flee like pansies. It's not really guard-like and might not be useful to be promoted to a higher rank but it's a natural reaction and not forbidden.
  • lordly lords and stagly stags
They can do the same as guardsman if they feel the urge to show their sheer manliness off. Very good at the beginning of rut. It impresses the ladies. A lot.
Those happily married or simply not as heroic can get their lovely ladies (and princesses) out of danger not taking care for others.
And most important they can yell orders. I am a dummy! And hope somebody will follow them
  •  lovely ladies, sparkling princesses and sweet does
They can scream for help like damsels in distress even if they aren't in danger, theatrically passing out and panic.
They can also flee like fleeing fleers to where ever they think it might be safe to stay or to unsafe places.
They can try to save their fawns on their own if they might be in danger (of being trampled by panickers for example).
And *gasp* they can even save their own husband or another manly manstag.
Princesses are free to stay and help the mighty fire fighters with a good boost or just run.
  • baby fawns
Babies should at best stick close to their mamas or run fast.
They can try to be super fawn and save somebody but it's not really smart because they can end up as a crispy piece of roasted bacon.
  • Everybody
Every fawnling who wants to can use this mass panic to give it a go and flee from the herd and it's king.
It's highly unlikely that you will be suspected of making a run for the hills as there will be enough fleeing fawnlings around who just intend to save themselves.

This was a short list of ideas what characters may do but there are many other possibilities that have not been mentioned. I don't doubt the creativity of all my fellow members and I'm sure there will be other awesome reactions beside those few. La la la la

People are also free to use this event for anything important for their own plots.

-Need a character to die but you did not know how to do it. Feel free to use the fire for it.
-Need an important NPC to die for plot relevant reasons? Here's a free way on how to do it.
-In need of sexy or ugly scars for you stag or doe? Burning twigs, boiling hot rocks or flying sparks could do the deed.
- This fire can also be used to get families separated or fawnlings presumed to be dead. Whoever might get lost in this fire will not be accused of being a treacherous traitor if he or she returns after a few weeks (a year might be a bit suspicious).

And most important even though the fire was an accident every fawnling is free to believe it might be a sign of the Gods. Especially superstitious and unhappy herdmembers or constant Doomsday awaiters. Nobody knows where this fire came from and some might still have bad memories on a previous event that happened around the same time after similar events. It's no must but it might be a natural reaction especially among unhappy royals who backed another king candidate or wished for another outcome of the trial.

However please don't use it to make a mass exodus. Not all princesses can get lost and not all commoners can be presumed dead. Be realistic. The area is small compared to the entire territory. Not all fawnlings can be in this place at that time. I'm sure this won't be the only chance to flee. ; )

But what if you don't want to take part in this?

If you don't want to take part it's no problem. It's no must to.
Fawnlings who are in other areas of the kingdom might not even notice something at all or hear of it long time after it happened.
This is basically thought to get Lassie's plot work and I offer it as help for others with similar plans/plots or current plot problems to use it alongside with me. ^^
Or just for the fun of it and to develop your characters of course.
